Opening weekend of riffle season wasn’t as successful as I was hoping for. So for the second weekend I headed up for Clark county, the Redding compound. Saturday November 18th I woke up and had to ask myself, where do I want to
go this morning? So I decided to go to BONO’s. It was a great morning, seen three does and a little four pointer.

That evening I decided to go back to Bono’s, I watched the same three does from the morning again. One of them was pretty tempting, but I was still waiting for the big boy. When Sunday morning rolled around I was stuck with the same Question as the morning before.

After pondering for a second I decided to go back to
Bono’s. After thinking about that doe from the previous evening, I was thinking that I would take a nice healthy doe if the opportunity happened again. About 8:20 two very small does walk into the clearing, behind them were two adult does. I raised my riffle hoping that they would take the same course.

At about 200 yards these deer step into a nice clearing.
I chose the larger of the two and took the shot. After the shot the doe took off to the left with tail up, now I’m doubting the shot. When I got to the point where I thought I shot her I looked for blood, nothing. I took the way that I thought that she traveled and was still searching for any sign. About 20 yards to my left there she laid, a great adult doe with my Remington 30-06. Just waiting for another great trip up to the Redding compound.
